Chunky brown leather boots by belgian designer dirk bikkembergs (1990s), one style from amongst many designed by bikkembergs which took cues from the ‘shapes and traditions of flemish workwear as well as the boots of mountaineers, soldiers, skiers and footballers’. This example has a slightly rounded toe with a thick, squared off sole, lace up closure, and a thick steel heel with a cutout in the middle.
The laces are extra long, and are designed to be laced and then wrapped through the open section of the heel. This pair comes with two sets of laces: black (subtler), or bright blue and purple (not subtle at all, rather, flashy, and vaguely resembling bungee cord).
The boots are in good condition, apart from two cracks on the inside side of the soles (see pictures) and some creasing to leather. Although the cracks may worsen, because they sit above the steel heel area they should have more durability than they would otherwise.
